Week One, Session One

Run 1 minute. Walk 2 minutes. Do this 12 times.

It has begun. I picked up my book from Chapters today, and got right to it. It was a perfect day weatherwise, so I thought I would bring along some furry friends.

My first recommendation to anyone reading: Do not bring furry friends.

Ok, it wasn't that bad. The dogs had a blast once they figured out that the secret to not getting kicked, stepped on or yelled at was avoiding running in front of me. Our pace was set by the smallest member of our running group, which might be the reason I don't feel too pooped. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. He did give me an additional arm workout during the last half when I carried him for the walking portions, so maybe it evens out. It was annoying having to perform pooper scooper duties, though.

I didn't do a lot of stretching. Just a couple to start, and a couple afterward. I definitely plan on changing this, especially since increasing my flexibility is another goal of mine.

One thing I noticed is that it's easy to get carried away, especially at the beginning. I actually ended up running for two minutes instead of one right at the start because time went by so quickly. Not a big deal at this point (as much as it irritates my perfectionist nature), but the book is very adamant about sticking to the plan. Fine by me!
